How To Be a Bad Artist

Interactive Creative Workshop ✹ 2023

I returned to Leicester with the wonderful Bethany Chilvers to co-host How To Be A Bad Artist — an interactive, joyfully chaotic workshop created for the Cultural eXchanges Festival.

Held on a rainy midweek evening, we were met with the warmest crowd who fully embraced our playful, neurodivergent-led approach to creativity. Together, we explored collage, shrine-making, playdough sculpting, and self-reflection — all rooted in the belief that creativity doesn’t need to be "good" to be powerful.

The session opened up conversations around learning styles, self-expression, and releasing perfectionism. It became clear that this kind of low-pressure, exploratory space; where creativity is celebrated in all its messy glory is needed.
